SCS Gets Behind Philippines Typhoon Haiyan Appeal
Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines just a few days before SCS Formulate, causing catastrophic damage and leaving many dead or injured. A collection was started for the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal during the SCS dinner and continued into day two of Formulate, collecting a total of £1,068. It was a busy event so if the buckets didn’t pass your way you can still donate direct to the Red Cross at www.redcross.org.uk/typhoonappeal
One SCS member, Nick Lawson, received a poignant message from an industry colleague in the Philippines:
Hi Nick,
It was nice hearing from you. I am so touched with your concern.
Me and my family here in Manila are all in good shape and also all my colleagues but sad to say that most of my relatives in the affected areas have no more houses and just staying in the evacuation centers plus two of my nephews were killed by the flash floods that hit them. It’s very hard because we hardly have communication with them since electricity and phone signals are still not all operational yet. But we are very positive that very soon Philippines will be back at its feet. As the newly composed song here “PHILIPPINES WILL RISE AGAIN AND NOBODY WILL BE LEFT ALONE”.
Thank you so much for the donations that your organization raised for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. This is very much appreciated.
