Sad Announcement – Dr Laura Marshall

Dear Members

It is with great regret and sadness that we have to inform you of the sudden and untimely passing of Laura Marshall, founder and CEO of Reading Clinical Research.

Laura was a great supporter of the SCS, who had served on Council and was Chair of Scientific Programme Committee until May this year, was a member of the RDG Wales and West and organised SCS Formulate for several years.  As well as her contribution to the industry for many years, most recently setting up Reading Clinical Research, Laura was a pillar of the Society and the industry and brought a smile to the face of everyone who knew her.

Our thoughts are with her family at this most difficult time.

Laura’s colleague’s have issued the following announcement:

Laura, 44, passed away on Thursday 16th October having suffered a stroke.

She leaves behind her husband, Chris, and two children, aged 6 and 8. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, the children and Laura’s parents and family at this difficult time.

Laura was well respected in her field and played an active role on the council of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.  She touched everyone that she met with her kindness, commitment and care, and I know that you will be as sad as I am when you hear this news.

Capitalising on her 17 years in the clinical research field, Laura was fundamental to the founding of Reading Clinical Research early last year.

Laura assembled a strong team of research and project management professionals; together, they’ve built a rapidly-growing business with great prospects that is testament to her hard work and determination to do a great job for every client on every project.

The Board and Management of Reading Clinical Research are committed to continuing the work that Laura started – it is what she would have wanted.

We are grateful for your ongoing support and understanding.
