Education Project Leader Appointment Underlines Commitment to Education

As part of its ambition to be first choice in the provision of education in cosmetic science, the SCS has appointed Jane Evison as Education Project Leader. Working closely with Gem and the Education Committee, Jane will assess the potential of new education programmes and develop a clearer view of the roles and responsibilities required to help the Society achieve its aim.

Jane, who many of you will know from her time working with Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine, will work for the SCS on a 1 year part time fixed term contract.

The first major task is to review all current SCS offerings and assess the competitive environment, from where it will be possible to establish which courses need to be addressed or added and where opportunities lie. Recommendations will be reported to the Education Committee towards the end of Jane’s year in this role, though it may be possible to address certain areas within this time.

Jane would love to hear feedback from members, or anyone who has done the DLC, to help establish what has been most beneficial as well as highlight any omissions. Contact jane.evison@scs.org.uk

Another aspect of Jane’s role will be to help provide a coherent, strategic approach to the Society’s internal education, including all event programmes. She will be working with all SCS committees and RDGs to help ensure cohesion and coordination.

“Having been with the SCS for many years as a member and committee member, I am really delighted to be taking on this project,” says Jane. “The SCS benefits hugely from its members donating their time and expertise to further its work in the promotion of education and professional excellence in cosmetic science. However, the creation of this new dedicated role recognises the need to deliver a coordinated and continuous strategy to build on current education and training offerings and develop new ones for the future. I am looking forward to working with everyone involved.”

Commenting on Jane’s appointment, Russell Cox, Chair of the SCS Education Committee says: “We look forward to Jane starting in this new role. We’re confident that her experience within the cosmetics industry will enable her to bring success to the new project. This appointment is a testament to the desire of the SCS to progress and build on its core principle of promoting education.”
