The Society Framework

The Society of Cosmetic Scientists – Who we are

The Society is administered by the SCS Secretariat  which includes the Secretary General, Administrative Assistant, Education Programme Coordinator and the Course Administrator & Office Support

The Society is made up of over 1,000 individual Members. Networking is a vital activity and a huge benefit for SCS Members

A full SCS member can join the SCS Council for a term of 3-5 years (see AGM below). Council holds between six or seven meetings each year.  A full SCS member can also be nominated for Officer roles – Vice President, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer although it is preferred that experience of SCS Organisation is obtained first by joining SCS Council or a Committee.

There are six Committees within the SCS and two regional groups. The Committees meet regularly and report their activities to the SCS Council. As a Full, Associate, Affiliate or Student member of the Society, you can join a Committee of your choice by contacting the Secretariat  You name will then be passed onto the chair of your chosen Committee.

SCS Council then report back to the membership via the SCS newsletter, emails, SCS website or one of its social media platforms

Full members of the SCS can join the SCS Council at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by completing an electronic nomination form via a third-party company.  Nomination papers are sent out to all Full Members in April each year and the AGM takes place annually in May. Full criteria for Council members can be viewed here.
