SCS Council and Committees
Committee Roles
Executive Committee (General Purposes)
This Committee consists of the President, Immediate Past President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary known as Officers of the Society. Individual members who have not been nominated onto Council to fulfil the role of an Officer, are not eligible to join this committee.
Role: To make recommendations to the Council regarding financial and administrative operations of the Society.
Education Committee
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: Maintaining the high standards of the SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science Course and all other SCS courses and activities. Sub-committees also include the Principles & Practice of Cosmetic Science, the RSC Book and Scrub up on Science (SUOS).
Scientific Programme Committee
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society and has sub-Working Groups to focus on all the programmes offered by the Society.
Role: To organise programmes for SCS Formulate, the SCS Annual Conference, London & Regional Lectures and includes the newly formed FutureSoc committee.
Regional Development Groups
The Committees consist of individual members of the Society and forms part of the Scientific Programme Committee.
Role: To promote the Society’s activities outside of the London area. There is a Regional Development Group in Wales & West, in the North and in Ireland.
International Journal Committee
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society, the President of the French Society and members of Wiley Publishing Group.
Role: The stewardship of the Society’s International Journal of Cosmetic Science (IJCS) and the maintenance of a high standard of scientific papers in all of the Society’s publications.
Membership Committee
Chaired by the Honorary Secretary the committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: To ratify new applications for membership and to make appropriate recommendations to Council.
Marketing & Communications Committee
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: To identify publicity requirements and maintain the SCS newsletter.
Social Committee
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: Organises the Society’s social functions.
