Message from the President
Shona Bear – President 2023-2024

“Anyone who is interested in becoming involved to contact the Society. All you need is enthusiasm, and I want to ensure the Society finds what our members want and to deliver this we need new volunteers, full of new ideas to challenge the way we are doing things now.
You can help shape the Society for the future.”
Shona set out her vision for her presidential year. Shona reflected that it was the late Laura Marshall who had involved her in the SCS and she wants to encourage others to get involved and bring new ideas to the Society. FutureSoc is a great example of new Members getting together and she is looking forward to learning more from this group.
Shona took the opportunity during her year as Vice President to attend a variety of meetings and has been pleased to see the initiatives from the 5-year strategy started by Mary Lord being brought into the various committees. The education side is going from strength to strength with Pauline Ayres as Honorary Education Secretary. The launch of the Introduction to Cosmetic Science course last year will be enhanced with a commercial event aimed at journalists and this will build on the aims of this course.
Shona is looking forward to working with other groups including CTPA, CEW and the British Beauty Council to help develop stronger relationships and opportunities.
