Committee Roles
Committee and Working Groups
Executive Committee
This Committee consists of the Officers of the Society, being the President, Immediate Past President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Secretary and also includes the SCS Head of Operations. Individual members who have not been nominated onto Council to fulfil the role of an Officer, are not eligible to join this committee.
Role: To make recommendations to the Council regarding financial and administrative operations of the Society.
Education Steering Group
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: Maintaining the high standards of the SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science Course and all other SCS courses and activities. Sub-committees also include the Introduction to Cosmetic Science Course (ICS), Principles of Cosmetic Science Course (PCS), the Discovering Cosmetic Science Book and Scrub up on Science (SUOS).
Scientific Programme Steering Group
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society and has Working Groups to focus on all the programmes offered by the Society.
Role: To organise programmes for SCS Formulate, the SCS Annual Conference, London & Regional Lectures and includes FutureSoc Working Group who organise events for those who are students / early careers or newcomers to the industry.
Regional Development Working Groups
The Committees consist of individual members of the Society and forms part of the Scientific Programme Committee.
Role: To promote the Society’s activities outside of the London area. There is a Regional Development Group in Wales & West, in the North.
International Journal Steering Group
The Committee consists of individual members of the Society, the President of the French Society and members of Wiley Publishing Group.
Role: The stewardship of the Society’s International Journal of Cosmetic Science (IJCS) and the maintenance of a high standard of scientific papers in all of the Society’s publications.
Membership Steering Group
Chaired by the Honorary Secretary the committee consists of individual members of the Society.
Role: To ratify new applications for membership and to make appropriate recommendations to Council.
