5th SCS ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM 2012

 30/31 MAY 2012 - Trinity College, Dublin

COSMETIC SCIENCE: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL

Information about science has never been so accessible. A quick search on the internet will reveal everything you need to know and more. Whilst this is true it is also fair to say that misinformation is also more widely available than ever. Cosmetic products have always been an easy target for sceptics and we have seen how bad science or the bad reporting of science can have massive consequences for our industry.

The 5th SCS annual scientific symposium takes this as its theme. Taking place in Trinity College, Dublin, the 2012 European city of science the event brings together world renowned experts in their field to discuss some of the latest good science that’s helping to shape the future of cosmetics. Ben Goldacre, science journalist and medic who through his best selling book Bad Science has helped expose some of the worst science currently in the public domain joins the symposium to explore how the cosmetic industry can guard itself against the perils of bad science. The final section of the event looks at some of the current beautiful science influencing our industry including an insight into how L’Oreal, the worlds largest cosmetic company are helping to maintain a beautiful world while still helping to shape the future of cosmetic science.
