EDUCATION IN THE SCS
Underpinning the activities of the Society lies a profound belief in the value of education. Our principal aim is to 'Advance the Science of Cosmetics'. The provision of information and lifelong learning is an integral part of this.
In order to fulfil this commitment, the Society provides a series of training and career development opportunities. Basic training may be obtained through the Distance Learning Course which takes students through a series of 29 modules, projects and exams to an award of the Certificate of Higher Education in Cosmetic Science. Then there is the recently redesigned interactive course for those developing their careers, now called Principles and Practice of Cosmetic Science. There are educational events in various parts of the country intended for recent recruits to the industry, and the unmissable technical exhibition called 'SCS Formulate' where formulators can learn to use new ingredients and delivery systems.
All this is supported by a series of evening lectures held in London which provide the latest information and reviews of topics integral to the work of everyone involved in Cosmetic Science.
This page of the SCS website introduces the structured courses. Information on the Educational Events and the other activities mentioned, may be found on the following links Scientific Events/Lectures or http://www.scs.org.uk/distance-learning-course or http://www.scs.org.uk/principles-and-practice on this website.
