SCS Annual Dinner 2017

7pm, Premier Lounge, Ricoh Arena, Coventry

Our President, Jackie Searle loves musical theatre so the 2017 SCS Formulate Annual Dinner will be a Phantom of the Opera styled historical Masquerade Ball.

Tickets at a subsidised £90 are selling fast so

Expect to be dazzled by a vintage styled stage, candelabras, masks, feathers and a giant glitter ball. Dinner jackets, ball gowns, masks and fancy dress will be very welcome… but please wear whatever you are comfortable in and make sure you bring your dancing shoes.

For 2017 we are shaking things up a bit and behind the vintage stage will be an ultra-modern video wall and DJ to stimulate your eyes and ears and encourage you to dance the night away. There will also be a quiet area and bar for people more interested in chatting than dancing!

We’ll have 2 very special acts to entertain you and your guests: a Cirque de Soleil type aerialist and contortionist will perform on the giant glitter ball and a musical theatre actor, who has performed in Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables, will perform a selection of show songs.

And of course the award for the SCS Laura Marshall Memorial Award for Innovation will be presented during the evening.

The guys and girls from Arthur Edward will be moving around with bags of sweets and raffle tickets for a chance to win a magnum of Champagne. We hope to raise £1,000 for the Look Good Feel Better global cosmetic industr charity that runs free skincare and make-up workshops for women and teenagers to help them cope with the visible effects of cancer treatment.

2016 annual dinner: it WAS ABBASOLUTELY FABULOUS

By Heidi Bannister

In honour of our President, Ruth Burner’s love of music, the 2016 SCS Formulate Annual Dinner was an Abba Party. It turned out to be an ‘abbasolutely’ fantastic event.

picture of 2016 annual dinnerThe evening at the Ricoh Arena kicked off with a glass of bubbly and a delicious 3 course meal, including a ‘Waterloo’ melon and feta cheese salad and a ‘Day before you Crème’ Brûlée desert!!

I am always amazed that any kitchen is able to serve a delicious hot dinner to 500 people at the same time and find it fascinating to watch the organisation behind the waiting staff. I hope that you all join me in a big thank you to the team at the Ricoh.

We were spoilt with 3 different musical experiences: a stripped back brass trio entertained us during dinner, the dance floor heaved with the sounds of Tokyo till the early hours and the main event of the evening was our Abba tribute band – Abberation.

picture of Abberation at 2016 annual dinnerIt was a fun night and nice to have a good old sing-along, let your hair down, network and party with friends and colleagues from the industry. Many connections are made and business cards exchanges throughout the evening, be sure not to miss it next year.

The guys and girls from Arthur Edward ran around during coffee selling raffle tickets and sweeties, collecting an incredible £860 for Look Good Feel Better, the cosmetic industry charity that runs free skin care and make-up workshops for women and teenagers to help them with the visible effects of cancer treatment.

Huge thanks also go to our Social Secretary Heidi Bannister and her team for organising the evening.
